Flower Card Tutorial
Using MyMemories Software to Customize your Flower Card

1. Download template file and install it into your software.

2. Using MyMemories Suite, choose Create Album From Designer Template and find your project

3. Now you can print and enjoy the provided template, or customize it with your own papers and embellishments.

Tip: You can right-click on the white guide and lock it in place to keep it from moving while you are working. Make sure this is the top layer of your project before printing.

Instead of adding the paper as a background paper, you can add it as an embellishment so that you can move the paper around.  This is especially useful when using papers with stripes or circles, so you can decide which part of the paper you want to use.

Once it is added as an embellishment, you can now select the paper and move it into the position you want it.

Just SAVE and PRINT on cardstock!

Flower Card Tutorial
How to Assemble your Flower Card

1.  Print your file on cardstock.

2.  Take your card template page and fold at all fold lines.  A bone folder helps make the creases nie and crisp to help your finished card to look nicer.

3.  There should be a total of 9 folds when you are done.

4.  Cut out your card.

5.  Turn your card over so that the printed side is down and pinch the sides of each petal together until all 6 petals are standing straight up.

6.  Gently push all the petals in one direction until they lay flat.

7.  You now have a flower card.

8.  Tie a ribbon (not included) or something equivalent around the card to hold it closed.

9.  Embellish as desired.  This card was embellished with a circle cut out from a piece of background paper.

 An ideal kit to use for this type of project, would be this lovely kit at My Memories called The Other Eve which is currently discounted by 20%.

An easy way of making a realistic “bump” if you have photoshop or photoshop elements or any image editor that will let you have layers and the ability to select a small section of an image and delete it:

1. Duplicate the pin.
2. On the bottom layer, draw a rectangle around the area of the pin you want to disappear.
3. Press delete to delete the selection.
4. Selecting the top layer while the selection is still active, inverse the selection and delete. It gives the pin a cleaner look.
5. Select the top layer, set the fill to ZERO, then click on the layer effects and add an emboss (set to emboss vs. inner or outer etc) Make it soft and large. Move the sliders to see what effects work best for you.
6. Add a layer underneath both pin layers and paint dark holes with a very soft brush.

I’ve included 4 files in the download – a shadow file and pinholes file for a lightly curved pin and a shadow file and pinholes file for a straight pin. There is also a text file with some simple instructions. The pin and paper are not included.

The shadows and pinholes for the safety pin look like this:

The TOU is simple, use it however you like, no credits required and use commercially if you want to. The only thing that I ask is that it’s not used for anything illegal.

Then, there’s the free desktop organizer on the fan page… Don’t worry about the spelling, I’ve included a desktop with the word organize spelled with a Z for those of you that like it spelled that way. What a cool and neat way of having a desktop!! This is so much better than the garden variety calendar desktop.

Here we go with the blog train freebie… I’ve lightened the yellow so it’s not so brash and it works in very well with the lavender and mint. Mint is such a popular colour at the moment too.
