two more sleeps

Two more sleeps to getting on a plane to UK for our holiday (vacation). Our first since our honeymoon 10 years ago.

My husband and I were discussing our “to do” lists and I said that I’m looking forward to being on the plane. He’s a seasoned traveller and he looked at me as though I’ve gone off my rocker and replied that I have no clue what it’s like to being on planes for 28 hours.

I let it pass.

A few hours later, he said the same thing. I asked him what he meant by that comment and he tells me that once we’re on the plane, there is nothing we can do about clients, employees, pets, work, employers, work, telephones ringing, work, household problems, work problems, anything we may have forgotten, all we have to worry about is our passports, cash and plane tickets. Everything else is irrelevant, too far away, someone else’s problem or replaceable.

The penny must have dropped.

I am so tired. I’ve been working so hard to have this holiday. It’s been planned for over a year. Everything went pear shaped in the last couple of months as far as my business is concerned and for me to go now meant leaving my business at a point in crisis. I’ve been working 15 hours plus per day and working on weekends to make up for the pear reshaped business plan and I’ve been wondering it the holiday is really worth all the work. In the end, I got there but, it’s been a mammoth taks and although I’ve been saying for the past month that I need to buy new underwear, it looks like tomorrow I might have some time to do it. I still have to go in to work but only for last hand-overs of backups and maybe talk to another client, but we will even have the time to pack. We’re buying suitcases in the morning because the ones we have are not suitable.

I still need to set up my laptop with some software for intenet access overseas so I can work when I need to. My list of things to pack has been growing and i have everything I need. It’s time to pack and it’s finally nearly time to go. I’ve not had time to think about this before today.
