after the bandages come off

The bandages on my hand came off on Friday and I’ve been given an exercise program to rehabilitate my hand. The exercise consists of hand movements in hot salty water for 20 minutes at a time, four times a day for 10 days. That’s a lot. Then, I have to massage the scrar with vitamin E cream for a month. I’m finding that for the moment, I can only manage just over 15 minutes before my hand becomes so tired that I can barely move my fingers from the strain. But, my hand and wrist does feel more supple after the exercises.

I managed hooking my bra for the first time this morning and tonight, I managed to cook my dinner. My husband had to cut the carrots for me but, I managed the lettuce cucumber and avocado admirably. I can even manage to open the ice cream container although this is pointless because the ice cream is too hard for me to scoop out.

I was told this was going to be easy, but it’s not. I think that the people that found it easy had keyhole surgery, not the same type I had which involved cutting the tendon.

So far this month, I’ve only made one page. It’s a photo of me in pre-school. I’ve used the loop of the string to point me out.
